Helen A Martinson

Helen Martinson passed away on Friday, June 15, 2012 at Golden Age Manor in Amery. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the East Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Amery. There will be a visitation time the hour before the funeral at the church. Burial will be at the East Immanuel Cemetery.

Helen Anna Martinson was born on March 4, 1915 in Frederika Township of Bremer County, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Pearl (Leach) Ager. When she was 12 her family moved to South Dakota. She graduated from Belle Fourche High School there. She went to Minneapolis and attended the Minneapolis School of Business. She worked for the Hardware Mutual Insurance Company for 8 years. On October 20, 1945 she was united in marriage to Paul Bernhart Martinson in Minneapolis and to this union three sons were born. They farmed together in rural Amery, Wisconsin for 50 years. During that time she also was employed at Golden Age Manor Nursing Home in Amery for 15 years. She liked sewing, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and helping others with a big Helen smile. She was also a longtime active member of East Immanuel Lutheran Church. Helen passed away at Golden Age Manor on Friday morning June 15, 2012 at the age of 97 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul; son Bradley Martinson; brothers: Laverne, Reno and Grant Ager; sisters: Leone Ager, Dorothy Dobby, Geraldine Allen and Mayda Moody. Left to mourn are her sons: Paul (Diana) Martinson and Steve (Leann) Martinson; 7 grandchildren; sisters: Alvira Shear and Verla Ranney as well as other relatives and friends.
